The 2024 Fall Professional Development Hour (PDH) Conference is equal parts information and learning coupled with relationship building and fun -- with excellent volunteer opportunities, a tour of a local fabrication facility, thoughtful and cutting-edge educational sessions, and the opportunity to catch-up and network with your colleagues.

Volunteer & Share Your Talents with the Veterans Community Project

Kick off your conference experience by volunteering at the Sioux Falls Veterans Community Project. No experience is necessary -- just a willingness to learn! Volunteers will be helping with various construction tasks around the village. Specific tasks will depend on the stage of construction on the day we are there, but could include anything from framing walls, to installing siding, to painting, to yard work. Volunteers will likely be working outdoors so you must be willing and prepared to work in all conditions. 

Two sessions are available on Wednesday, October 2nd: Morning (9am - Noon) and Afternoon (1pm - 4pm). Select your first choice on the registration form.

Tour the New Maguire Fabrication Facility

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry partner in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and towers. This year's conference tours will take us through Maguire's new fabrication facility. If you are not familiar with Maguire, please visit their website HERE. Three hour-long tour times are available on Wednesday, October 2nd: 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Please rank your preference of tour time on your registration form.

Network and Catch Up at the SDES Pre-Conference Social

One of the favorite side benefits of the conference atmosphere is the opportunity to catch up with old friends and network with colleagues. We'll be meeting at 5pm on October 2nd at the Blarney Stone Pub just down the street from the conference hotel. Even if you are not attending the conference, please join us for the Wednesday night social!
