The SDES Black Hills Chapter invites you to join us for this special event to celebrate national Engineers Week. In 1951, the National Society of Professional Engineers founded EWeek to ensure a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. In 2021, the week of February 21-27 is designated as Engineers Week across the nation.

Continuing our commitment to the future of engineering, the SDES Black Hills Chapter will donate all the proceeds from the $10 registration fee for this event to the SDES Black Hills Chapter Scholarship Fund. Thank you for your contribution!

Keynote Speaker:

Wes Dickhut, MS, PE, GeoStabilization International

Wes Dickhut, MS, PE, is GeoStabilization International’s Project Development Engineer for the Dakotas. He has 21 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and has shared his passion for engineering as an adjunct professor at Cincinnati State Community College and the University of Mary in Bismarck.

Engineers and maintenance professionals are increasingly faced with emergency geohazard events caused by landslides, sinkholes, erosion, and rockfall that impact critical infrastructure and transportation corridors. Wes’ presentation will discuss the benefits of early identification and preventative maintenance, the importance of a timely response, and case studies of innovative geohazard solutions.
