The SDES Black Hills Chapter invites you to join us for this special event to celebrate national Engineers Week. In 1951, the National Society of Professional Engineers founded EWeek to ensure a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. In 2020, the week of February 16-22 is designated as Engineering Week across the nation.

Keynote Speaker:

Robert Mudge, RPM Companies

Robert Mudge is a South Dakota native that graduated from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology with a B.S. (1976) and M.S. (1978) in Metallurgical Engineering.  He worked in industry for three years after graduating from SDSM&T and has been an entrepreneur in Rapid City since 1982.  He has co-founded and now leads four companies in Rapid City (RPM & Associates, Inc., RPM Solutions, Inc., RPM Innovations, Inc. and RDSS, LLLP).


Employing technology has been a key component to the 38 years of success of the RPM companies. A brief history of the companies will be presented to establish a base line of the technologies employed 38 years ago with a discussion of how the RPM companies utilized new development to remain successful and leaders in their respective industries.


From Sept 2012 to Sept 2014 Mr. Mudge, along with his wife Debbie, were the 28th Bomb Wing Maintenance Group Honorary Commanders at Ellsworth Air Force Base.  In 2013, Mr. Mudge was a recipient of the 2013 SDSM&T Distinguished Alumni Award.  And in 2015, Rob was inducted to the South Dakota Hall of Fame.  Rob and Debbie have recently been recognized as the 2018 Outstanding Philanthropists for South Dakota, by the Governor’s Awards for Philanthropy in conjunction with the South Dakota Chapter of AFP.

 

Rob and Debbie have been married for 46 years and they have two married daughters and 5 grandchildren.  Debbie is not only his wife, but also an active and invaluable business partner in the companies they co-founded.  He enjoys outdoor activities with his family such as hunting, baseball, water skiing and gardening. Over the past 25+ years Rob and Debbie have been board members and active supporters of several civic and charitable organizations, both locally and internationally.
